Frequently Asked
Questions

What is a food bank?
A food bank is a nonprofit organization that collects, stores, and distributes food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. The idea behind a food bank is to "top you up" for the month, not to be your main source of food for the month. The Ottawa Kosher Food Bank distributes up to three days worth of food, what we can give out equally to our clients.
Who can receive food from the food bank?
Our food bank serves individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Eligibility may vary, so please contact us for details.
How often can I receive food?
We serve our clients once a month. Pick-up is at Kehillat Beth Israel on specific days, according to our schedule.
How can I donate food?
We accept kosher, non-expired, sealed, non-perishable donations. You can drop off items at our location, the Kosher Loblaws at Baseline and Woodroffe, or Machzikei Hadas.
How can I contact the food bank?
